SAINT JOHN, NB, Canada, August 22, 2006 On Monday, July 17, more than 75 cyclists left Victoria, BC on their cross-country trip to St. John's, Nfld. These hard-working cyclists have covered more than 7800 kilometres over the course of the summer, as they wound their way through every Canadian province.
These final days of August find the team in PEI, Nova Scotia and finally Newfoundland. They have pedaled over mountains and down valleys, through sunshine and, in these last days at least, a lot of rain.
A Cross-Canada Bike for Bibles Service of Celebration will be held on Sunday, Sept. 3 in St. John's, Nfld. Everyone is invited to say "well done!" to this amazing team of cyclists from across Canada.
The ride, called The Bike for Bibles Centennial Ride, is a one of a kind cycling event to help commemorate the 100th birthday of the Canadian Bible Society (CBS). Each participant has given up part of their summer and raised more than $5000 to participate.
All the funds raised will help the Canadian Bible Society in their work of translating, publishing, distributing and encouraging the use of Scripture in Canada today. Supported by Canadians coast to coast, the Canadian Bible Society is one of Canada's oldest and most diverse Christian organizations.
Remember to visit www.bikeforbibles.ca for almost daily journal entries chronicling the cyclist's day-by-day adventures.
