CINCINNATI, USA, April 27, 2002 — Standard Publishing will release a new children's video series this fall entitled God Rocks! This animated series is the brainchild of Bruce Stacey, founder of Chelsea Road Productions, based in Burlington, Canada.
God Rocks!, "is the perfect vehicle for Standard's entrance into the children's video market because it continues our tradition of Biblically sound product that parents have come to expect from Standard Publishing" says Vice President of Consumer Products, Ted Simon. God Rocks! is overtly biblical in nature -- and this was of utmost importance to both Chelsea Road and Standard Publishing from the outset and during the scripting process.
God Rocks! employs a unique premise that allows for the presentation of Biblical content in a totally fun, original way: Imagine what rocks throughout history could tell us if they could "cry out!" And then imagine what rocks throughout Bible history could tell us! What would the rocks on Mount Sinai say, or the rocks of Jericho? They were the rocks on the scene, and they tell their stories to a cast of contemporary rock characters who live in the town of Rocky Ridge. The series primarily follows the Livingstones, a modern family of rocks shown in a "family sitcom" format who learn a Bible truth in every episode.
The telling of a complete Bible story within the story is one integral component of the God Rocks! property; another is music. This musical component, written for today's savvy young listeners, is provided by The God Rocks!, a garage band composed of four youthful God Rocks! characters who perform original songs within each episode.
