TORONTO, Ontario, April 18, 2006 — The work and mission of the Canadian Bible Society (CBS) will be featured on Canadian television in upcoming weeks.

First, the well-watched 100 Huntley Street will showcase the Canadian Bible Society on three consecutive shows, beginning on Tuesday, May 9.

National Director Phyllis Nesbitt will share some of her story while Ontario musician Jody Cross sings from the Good News Celebration CD, released to help celebrate the CBS birthday.

Viewers will catch a rare glimpse of the rare books collection of the CBS, courtesy of biblical scholar Mark Steinacher, as he hosts a video tour of this much-prized collection housed at the National Support Office in Toronto.

On May 10, Canadians will hear about the highly valued translation and distribution work the CBS carries out with the First Nations communities in Canada. Musician Cheryl Bear will treat viewers to her unique rendition of The Lord's Prayer using traditional instruments.

The next day the remarkable George Skerratt, one of over a hundred Canadians who will cycle coast to coast this summer with the CBS, will share how God has enabled him to participate in the CBS' Centennial Ride-against all the odds. Bruce Kemp, district director for the CBS in Northern Alberta and coordinator of Bike for Bibles, will be there to inspire viewers on how they can be involved in this life-changing journey to bring God's Word into the hearts and lives of Canadians. Musician Bec Abbot will sing from the Celebration CD.

On May 30th, Bruce Kemp will again share the good news of the Canadian Bible Society and the thrill of the Centennial Ride with viewers; this time on the Miracle Channel out of Lethbridge, Alta. Kemp will appear on LifeLine, the flagship show of this Christian television station.

Later in June, Claude Auger, member of the board of directors of the Canadian Bible Society, will represent CBS on Salt and Light Television, a television station that serves Catholic viewers. He will share how the CBS helps to open life-changing Scriptures to Canadians all across the country.
