Security cancelled prior to church attack

email page|print page|

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (ANS), Mar. 18 — Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider said church officials had recently stopped Pakistani security forces from searching people entering the church.

It is not clear what security was in place at or near the church when the attack occurred. Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider told reporters Sunday March 17 that church officials had recently stopped Pakistani security forces from searching people entering the church, after worshippers "complained of being inconvenienced."

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistani police officials and analysts have linked the incident to terrorists opposing the American led war against terror.
